"Today was one of my hardest days on a bike. The wind is incessant and for ten miles it was directly in our faces. Hard! Man Hard!" - Pete Sissons
13th August 2011 North East riders Pete Sissons and Paul Cosgrove landed at Kevlavik International Airport to begin a journey to rasie awareness for alopecia. Their aim was to circumnavigate Iceland in 14 days. The journey saw the Icemen disappear away from the major route into unpopulated wilderness. This expetition was a real test of strength and stamina. Various elements of the trip became stacked against completion and yet despite these major hurdles the Icemen still pulled it off. A massive achiement given the circumstances. Watch out for the Icemen video coming soon.
The Icemen are proud to be raising awareness and sponsorship for BeBold Alopecia Awareness along the way. The charity helps children and adults come to terms with a little known condition called alopecia. This is an auto imune condition which in extreme cases can cause all body hair to fall out. Imagine yourself if you were to wake up tomorrow with your hair now on the pillow what would you do?
BeBold Alopecia Awareness hold an annual summer camp for children and adults with the condition to help build self esteem and confidence. We want to raise enough finance to secure the future of this camp over the coming years. Your support will be extremely welcome and will enable the team to rebuild shattered lives. Enjoy the adventure with us!
